Rudolph - The real story - Author Unknown

A man named Bob May, depressed and broken hearted, stared out his drafty apartment window into the chilling December night.
His 4-year-old daughter Barbara sat on his lap quietly sobbing.
Bobs wife, Evelyn, was dying of cancer.
Little Barbara couldn't understand why her mummy could never come home. Barbara looked up into her dad's eyes and asked...
"Why isn't Mummy just like everybody else's Mummy?" Bob's jaw tightened and his eyes welled with tears.
Her question brought waves of grief, but also of anger.
It had been the story of Bob's life. Life always had to be different for Bob. When he was a kid, Bob was often bullied by other boys. He was too little at the time to compete in sports. He was often called names he'd rather not remember. From childhood, Bob was different and never seemed to fit in. Bob did complete college, married his loving wife and was grateful to get his job as a copywriter at Montgomery Ward during the Great Depression. Then he was blessed with his little girl. But it was all short-lived. Evelyn's bout with cancer stripped them of all their savings and now Bob and his daughter were forced to live in a two-room apartment in the Chicago slums. Evelyn died just days before Christmas in 1938.
Bob struggled to give hope to his child, for whom he couldn't even afford to buy a Christmas gift.
But if he couldn't buy a gift, he was determined to make one - a story book! Bob had created a character in his own mind and told the animal's story to little Barbara to give her comfort and hope.
Again and again Bob told the story, embellishing it more with each telling.
Who was the character? What was the story all about? The story Bob May created was his own autobiography in fable form. The character he created was a misfit outcast like he was. The name of the character? A little reindeer named Rudolph, with a big shiny nose.
Bob finished the book just in time to give it to his little girl on Christmas Day. But the story doesn't end there.
The general manager of Montgomery Ward caught wind of the little storybook and offered Bob May a nominal fee to purchase the rights to print the book. Wards went on to print "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" and distribute it to children visiting Santa Claus in their stores. By 1946 Wards had printed and distributed more than six million copies of Rudolph. That same year, a major publisher wanted to purchase the rights from Wards to print an updated version of the book.
In an unprecedented gesture of kindness, the CEO of Wards returned all rights back to Bob May. The book became a best seller. Many toy and marketing deals followed and Bob May, now remarried with a growing family, became wealthy from the story he created to comfort his grieving daughter. But the story doesn't end there either.
Bob's brother-in-law, Johnny Marks, made a song adaptation to Rudolph. Though the song was turned down by such popular vocalists as Bing Crosby and Dinah Shore, it was recorded by the singing cowboy, Gene Autry. "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" was released in 1949 and became a phenomenal success, selling more records than any other Christmas song, with the exception of "White Christmas."
The gift of love that Bob May created for his daughter so long ago kept on returning back to bless him again and again. And Bob May learned the lesson, just like his dear friend Rudolph, that being different isn't so bad. In fact, being different can be a blessing.

I think Santa Claus is a woman

I think Santa Claus is a woman....I hate to be the one to defy a sacred myth, but I believe he's a she. Think about it...
For starters, the vast majority of men don't even think about selecting gifts until Christmas Eve. Once at the mall, they always seem surprised to find only lingerie suitable for street walkers, cheap perfume, or any sharp object made by Ronco which slices or dices, left on the shelves. On this count alone, I'm convinced Santa is a woman.

Surely, if he were a man, everyone in the universe would wake up Christmas morning to find a PlayStation under the tree, still in the bag. And a male Santa would inevitably have transportation problems because he would get lost up there in the snow and clouds and then refuse to stop and ask for directions.

Other reasons why Santa can't possibly be a man: - Men can't wrap presents - Men would rather be dead than caught wearing red velvet. - Men would feel their masculinity is threatened... having to be seen with all those elves. - Men don't answer their mail. (Except email of course) - Men aren't interested in stockings UNLESS somebody's wearing them. - Having to do the Ho Ho Ho thing would seriously inhibit their ability to pick up babes. -

Finally, being responsible for Christmas would require a commitment.

Let's try it....

I wonder how many of you will say it back??

("Merry Christmas" is a fixed greeting in American English.
In British English the greeting is "Happy Christmas". )

Christmas hug

Sending you a great big christmas hug!

Christmas is a time to reflect

Christmas is a time to reflect.
to think about our loved ones
that won't be around the table.
It's a sad time for many people.
Even with friends and family with you.
You can still feel lost and lonely.
It's not just Christmas, it's all year round.
Make someone's day a text or a call just to
 make someone somewhere feel loved
and thought about
 Merry Christmas everyone.
Make someone smile,
but not just for Christmas!

Wishing you a Christmas full of love and laughter

Wishing you a Christmas full of love and laughter

Christmas is not as much about....

Christmas is not as much about opening our presents as opening our hearts

If a fat man puts you in a bag

If a fat man puts you in a bag at night, don't worry, I told Santa that I wanted YOU for Christmas

A moment of support

Holidays are upon us and it can be a very
joyful time of year
But some of us have problems during the
holidays and sometimes are overcome with
great sadness when we remember the
loved ones who are not with us.
Many people have no one to spend these
times with and are besieged by loneliness.
They all need caring thoughts and loving
prayer right now.
May I ask you all,  wherever you might be,
to share this to give a moment of support
to all those who have family problems,
health struggles, job issues, worries of
any kind and just need to know that
someone cares. Do it for all of us, for
nobody is immune.

Wishing warm greetings for you and your family

This time of year brings to mind those things in life that are most important. It reminds us to focus on all of the good things around us. Wishing warm greetings for you and your family during this Christmas

Puppies' Christmas

It's the day before Christmas
And all through the house
The puppies are squeaking
An old rubber mouse.
The wreath which had merrily
Hung on the door
Is scattered in pieces
All over the floor.
The stockings that hung
In a neat little row
Now boast a hole in
Each one of the toes.
The tree was subjected
To bright-eyed whims,
And now, although splendid,
It's missing some limbs.
I catch them and hold them.
"Be good", I insist.
They lick me, then run off
To see what they've missed.
And now as I watch them
The thought comes to me,
That their's is the spirit
That Christmas should be.
Should children and puppies
Yet show us the way,
And teach us the joy
That should come with this day?
Could they bring the message
That's written above,
And tell us that, most of all
Christmas is love.

Burning a candle....

Share if you are wishing someone in heaven a Happy Christmas!
